The reveal event of Call of Duty: Black Ops has confirmed a lot of rumors that have been bugging us for a really long time. Outside of battle-royale mode, Black Ops 4 has improved their zombies mode and a new health system which prevents the traditional self-healing. Also, PC users can look forward to a custom built Black Ops 4 experience using Bizzard’s Battle.net service.

The battle royale mode, rumored last month, was revealed at the end of the reveal event. The new battle-royale mode is "Blackout" which is dubbed as “battle royale, the Black Ops way.” It is said that Blackout mode will feature Treyarch's biggest map ever made by them. Blackout will include “10 years worth of Black Ops universe features,” that includes characters, weapons, and the “most iconic parts” of popular maps.

Now, instead of recharging your health, you'll have some kind of stim injector for a quick health recharge. The animation is as nimble as you’d expect in a game about knee sliding while shooting people in the eyeballs. Call of Duty is now no longer just about who shoots first. Correctly choosing when to rush in or when to use a health stim will make the difference between victory and defeat.

Zombies are back and are better than ever in Black Ops 4’s zombies mode, with new characters, and new enemies. Black Ops 4’s zombies mode will include three maps, with all-new characters and enemies, that take inspiration from historical places and events with a little mix of mystical thrown in. The three maps included on day one are Nine, Voyage of Despair, and Blood of the Dead. Nine hops the players in ancient Rome, Voyage of Despair, is set on the Titanic, and the third map Blood of the Dead, is fan-favorite Black Ops 2 map Mob of the Dead remastered, with the original zombies team. Zombies mode will introduce Callings – limited time created challenges a lot like Fortnite’s Limited Time Mode. Another new mode, Zombie Rush, was announced about which Treyarch didn't talk much about.

The PC version of Black Ops 4 was developed alongside Beenox, and will be the first Call of Duty title to use the Battle.net service. Studio head, Mark Gordon, confirmed that this version of the game has been custom built for the PC so as to “give PC gamers what they deserve.” Players can add and chat with friends, party up, see which games they’re buddies are playing, and generally, partake in all of the features that Battle.net bestows as a part of its service. The PC version will have an uncapped framerate and will support 4K, HDR, Ultrawide monitors.

There’s been no word on a proper single-player campaign, however, there will be playable single-player missions for each of the unique operators.

A lot of artwork for the game had already been leaked which can be viewed here. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches on October 12 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
