The PlayStation VR game Deracine that Dark Souls and Bloodborne developer FromSoftware was revealed at E3 2018. The VR game, according to FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki, is born of a feeling that he had the first time he put on a VR headset.

In an interview with Polygon, Miyazaki said that he felt a sense of immersion and also felt disconnected from the alternate reality he inhabited.

"It really blew me away and impressed me in the way that you get transported into this space where you know that you exist," Miyazaki said to Polygon at E3 2018.

"But how could I create a game around that feeling, that could only be delivered as a VR experience? That’s really what kind of triggered the idea.”

The answer to that question is Deracine. The PlayStation VR game is scheduled to arrive later this year. In Deracine you take on the role of an invisible "faerie" in a Victorian boarding school where you can only interact with the children there indirectly, while time stands still.

Unlike other games by FromSoftware, you don't fight for your life. Instead, this VR game is all about savoring the delightful experience.
With this unique VR game, Miyazaki hopes that Deracine will serve as proof that FromSoftware can do more than Dark Souls-like games.
