Pacific Rim Uprising
As sci-fi action thrillers continue to go on, the inclusion of metallic fighters doesn't stay far behind, be it the mighty Optimus Prime from Transformers or even the human-like Ultron from Avengers: Age of Ultron. But there is something unique about the Jaegers of Pacific Rim Uprising.

Pacific Rim Uprising is set ten years after the events of the first movie where the Jaegars defeated the Kaijus. For the uninitiated, Jaegars are giant mechas operated by two people and Kaijus are massive beasts who came somewhere from the ocean. This sequel to 2013's Pacific Rim has John Boyega starring as Jake Pentecost, the son of Idris Elba's protagonist of the first film. Jake makes his living as a smuggler of Jaegar parts till he gets caught and ends up training with a bunch of kids to pilot Jaegars.

Directed by Steven S. DeKnight, the movie balances the amiable humor with better than average action sequences. It is actually a pleasure to see who is fighting whom and who the good and bad guys are unlike the Transformers which makes it little complicated for newcomers to the world of Autobots and Decepticons.

At the end of the day, Pacific Rim Uprising is an exciting monster versus mecha fight in Tokyo which does not make you think deeply about the whole plot with the fact that you literally don't need to have watched the first movie.
