Battlefield V: Everything Known About It

[UPDATE]: Battlefield V will not have loot boxes. DICE has confirmed to Polygon that this game won't be filled with loot boxes.

Battlefield V was revealed on May 23 and the livestream reveal was on YouTube, Mixer, Twitch and Battlefield's official website. The gameplay trailer was just awesome as you'd expect from a DICE creation. Plenty of destruction and fast-paced action satisfy your hunger for a good game! Take a look at it:

New Mechanics

As you can see in the trailer, players can drag down squad mates to safety and revive them. Teamwork seems to be an important key to the game this time around, as it will generate squad points. The animation has been overhauled, and players will actually feel shockwaves impacting their surroundings.

Along with the animation, system overhaul is a revised destruction system. This will allow players to push through larger objects like the house you see in the trailer’s opening. This allows for new tactical options, and each weapon will create different bullet holes and splinters when penetrating stationary objects. Now that's a great level of detail!

One can notice the new fortification and repair system along with personalized weapons and vehicles. Teammates will be able to build walls with sandbags and configure stationary weapons.

What about Campaign?

The campaign in Battlefield V will focus on stories which haven’t been explored too much in video games. DICE wants to focus on some of the lesser-known stories of World War 2 in Battlefield V's single-player campaign.

The War Stories structure from Battlefield 1 returns in Battlefield V. So, different characters will be featured in various, “unexpected" theaters with self-contained missions. DICE creative director Lars Gustavsson said the team searched for various stories to tell which took place after 1942, the setting of the original Battlefield game Battlefield 1942. But don't fret, as the game is not a remaster of 1942!

Getting Co-Op back

In Battlefield V, co-op is coming back. It’s called Combined Arms, and it’s basically a scenario generator that randomly assembles missions for four players to battle in co-op.
DICE is not sharing too many details about it, but we do know gameplay will involve familiar multiplayer modes as well as single-player-style objectives.

Grand Operations

Unlike Battlefield 1 Operations, Grand Operations won’t feature the same basic attack or defend objectives. The mode will still be based on historical battles across multiple maps though, but there will be multiple modes this time out instead along with custom rules.

In the Grand Operation teased during the reveal event in London, players will be dropped into Rotterdam as paratroopers. Squads are of particular importance in this instance, and if one of the players dies and chooses not to respawn to their squad, they will be forced to jump from a plane again. Grand Operations come in four parts expanding in four days, according to what DICE said on the livestream.

There's also Final Stand. It is basically a fight to the death with extreme pressure, and no respawns. Now due to this, players will need to stick with their squad in order to be revived upon death as all squad members have the ability to revive others regardless of their chosen class.

When is it releasing?

This time, EA Access subscribers on Xbox One and Origin Access members on PC will be able to play the game first on October 11. Pre-order the Deluxe Edition($79.99) and you can play Battlefield V full on October 16. Those who purchase the Standard Edition($59.99) of the game won’t be able to play the game until its worldwide general release on October 19 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
